Law firm website design in South Africa.

De Novo Digital builds websites for South African law firms and nothing else. We design the site, write what is missing, build it, and then check it every week so that it still works in a year.

Five complete law firm websites are published below. Every page of all five works, and you can open any of them now.

What we do

Design, writing, building, and then looking after it.

Firms can keep their existing logo and copy or have us write and design new ones. Every price below is published, so you can hold it against anybody else’s quote without having to ask us first.

Website design and build

We design the site around your practice areas, your attorneys and the people who telephone you, then write what is missing and build it. It is built as plain files rather than as an application, so there is no database to hack and nothing to patch. From R8,500 to rebuild an existing site.

How a build works, step by step →

Care and weekly checks

Every week we check the contact form, every link, how fast the site loads and where your firm comes up in Google. You email a change and it is on the site the same working day. From R1,950 a month.

What the care plan does each week →

A free review of your current site

We go through your site against a written list of 69 checks in seven stages and email you the six problems worth fixing first, each in one sentence, with what we measured. It costs nothing and we do not telephone you afterwards.

Being found in search

On-page and technical search work is part of every build. Beyond that, Found is a monthly service for firms that want to come up when somebody in their town searches for an attorney. R4,950 a month.

Selected work

Different law firms should look and work differently.

Five practices, five different problems, and five websites designed around the practice rather than around one template. The firms are invented and every page of every site says so at the top. The websites themselves are real and finished.

Doe & Roe Family Law

Family law and divorce · Brooklyn, Pretoria · 8 pages

A family law website organised by what has happened, not by service.

Somebody whose marriage is ending does not know whether they need a divorce, a mediator or a maintenance application, and they are usually reading at eleven at night. The site opens on situations instead of services — papers have arrived, the maintenance has stopped, you cannot see your children — so the reader starts from where they actually are and the firm gets a better first call.

Whiteacre Property Law

Conveyancing · Hatfield, Pretoria · 7 pages

A conveyancing website built around the transfer itself.

The commonest call a conveyancer takes is a buyer asking where the transfer is, and the answer is almost always the same and almost never bad news. The home page carries a live file showing the property, which of the eight stages it has reached, who the firm is waiting on and how many working days it has been, so the client can see it without telephoning.

Volenti Attorneys

Personal injury and RAF · Sunnyside, Pretoria · 7 pages

A personal injury website built to be telephoned.

Somebody who has been injured is in pain, short of time and reading on a phone, and if they have to find a contact page some of them give up. The telephone number stays on the screen the whole way down every page and dials when it is touched. The eight stages of a claim are published with who controls each one, including the ones the firm cannot hurry.

There are two more, for commercial and labour practices.

All five in full, each with the three decisions behind it and a screenshot of the real page that shows them.

One person builds the site, and the same person answers the telephone.

I am Christo, and De Novo Digital is me. There is no account manager between a firm and the person doing the work, no ticket queue, and nobody to whom your change request gets forwarded. You email me a change and I make it.

That is also the limit of the business, and it is why we work for law firms and nothing else. One domain is the only way one person becomes good at something rather than adequate at everything.

Built to perform

Law firm websites that load quickly and work for everybody.

Google publishes a free tool called PageSpeed Insights. It scores any website out of 100 for speed, accessibility, best practice and search, and a score of 90 or more is in its good range. Paste this page’s address into it, then paste your own firm’s.

Every page on this site and on all five of the websites above scores 100 for accessibility and 100 for best practice. Nine of the ten do not move at all while they load. Speed runs 94 to 100 on a phone and 100 on a laptop.

Measured against the live site, 28 September 2026, on a phone.

Why a website needs looking after

A website stops working quietly, and nobody tells the firm.

A Johannesburg family law firm paid for a new website in 2025. Good structure, proper pages for each practice area. Somebody had clearly done the work.

Nine months later the homepage still advertised personal injury law, which the firm does not practise. The counter meant to show cases won read zero. The link to the parenting plan page went to the separation agreements page. Six faults in total, listed below.

A contact form that stops delivering does not tell you it has stopped. The enquiries do not bounce back and nobody rings to say they gave up. The firm simply gets fewer instructions and never finds out why. That is what the monthly fee is for.

Six faults, marked where they appear on the page.

  1. Blog heading on the homepage said "personal injury law"
  2. The counter meant to show cases won displayed 0
  3. "No posts found" sat on the homepage
  4. Footer read "Spousal Maintenace"
  5. The Parenting Plan link went to the separation agreements page
  6. Two different email addresses across the site

The expensive fault is the one nobody can see.

A broken contact form looks exactly like a quiet month. This is what the weekly check is for: we submit your form and see whether it arrives.

  1. 01

    Search

    They look for an attorney

  2. 02

    Your page

    They land on your site

  3. 03

    The form

    They type it all out

  4. 04

    Your inbox

    It never arrives

Questions

Questions about working with De Novo Digital.

How much does a law firm website cost?
Rebuilding an existing site is R8,500. A new site is R12,500 for a sole practitioner, R18,000 for two to five attorneys and R28,000 for six to twelve. Thirteen or more is quoted. The price depends on the size of the firm and not on the number of pages — all your practice areas and all your attorneys are included.
What is the monthly fee for?
Looking after the site once it is built. We check it every week, make the changes you email us the same working day, and send one page at the end of the month showing who visited and what came in. Once a year we run the same 69-check review over your own site. From R1,950 a month.
Do we have to change how our website looks?
No. If you are happy with the look, we rebuild it looking the same. What changes is underneath: it loads faster, there is nothing left on it for anybody to hack, and somebody is watching it.

Send your firm’s web address. We go through the site against a written list of 69 checks in seven stages — what it says, whether the contact form works, how fast it loads, what Google shows for your firm, and whether it meets the POPIA and Legal Practice Council rules.

You get back the six problems worth fixing first, each in one sentence, with what we measured. It lands within two working days.

It costs nothing, we do not telephone you afterwards, and you are free to hand the list to whoever built the site.
